This set ticks all of the boxes for me: lots of minifigures to tell the stories with, different building techniques between stalls and temple, with delightful results. There is also lots of detail in the stock of the stalls; generous greebling elements: telescopes and dragon heads; ingots and box plates; printed tiles, and plants: both a novel tree, and detailed flower beds… To be honest, I feel like it has something for everyone. And if you are building as a family, most bags can be constructed independently of the previous ones – and with downloadable instructions, you can have as many family members helping out with the building.
The detail in this set is spot on. The architectural details are beautiful, the colours are perfect, and the quality is superb. With loads of minifigures – the most I've seen in a set this size, plus some excellent stands, this is definitely a set to pick up.

Temple Fair is a beautiful set. Additionally, the kit's value is excellent, and you get a wonderful assortment of Minifigures. However, the set needs more detail on the back of the temple. As it stands, that is an eyesore. With that said, the positives about Temple Fair far outweigh the negatives. While it is a niche interest set, it will not disappoint you if you fall into the niche.
In short: Love it. This is a amazingly designed, colorful set. To be honest, I'm not sure if all the colors work because it's so close to the real thing, or that I only recognize it as being Chinese because of stereotypes, but in my ignorant eyes this seems to breath China. Yes, some parts are a pain to work through, but the end result is worth it.
LEGO has released five minifigure-scale sets which are inspired by traditional Chinese festivals and 80105 Chinese New Year Temple Fair is my favourite example. The level of detail and authenticity is almost unprecedented, exhibiting excellent attention to Chinese New Year celebrations and products that are associated with the seasonal temple fairs. I am delighted with the architecture too, extending beyond the temple and across the market.
The Chinese New Year Temple Fair is a winner in my mind. You can tell that a lot of research went into its development, as the set is filled with plenty of details and excellent architectural designs, including the texturing of the walls and roofing. The absence of stickers is also a plus, because the printed tiles will stay nice for years to come. A large number of minifigures will also entertain children for days, as they play out their own scenes during the holiday. Last but not least, The bright, colourful and wonderfully designed narrative and tiny builds make it a great playset for LEGO fans across the world celebrating the festivities.
