These are great books and loaded with info and pictures. But, if you are trying to collect mini-figs be very careful when buying. There are multiple editions with different mini-figs and sellers are often careless about properly describing which edition they're selling. The newsest edition, bought new, is usually fine, but older used editions can be tricky.

Overall, the Updated and Expanded is a welcome change considering there have been so many new minifigures that have been released since the last book. The updated White Boba Fett minifigure is also a great collectible since this will probably be the only time we'll see this version of him. The book does give a wealth of information about the minifigures even though a lot of it was just transferred from the previous book. If you don't have the first version of the Character Encyclopedia, then this really isn't an issue.

This is my first Star Wars character encyclopedia and I really enjoyed the entire book, despite not being the biggest fan. There's a lot to love with the book, and could make the perfect gift for your LEGO-obsessed friends. The book is designed really well and contains really cool bits of trivia about the unfathomably huge world of Star Wars minifigs and characters.
