Buy this book! Even at just £13 / $17 for the hardcover on Amazon, Tiny Lego Wonders is as beautifully produced as all No Starch Press publications, but for it to remain pristine on a bookshelf or coffee table would be a great shame. Tiny Lego Wonders needs to look dog-eared, shabby and worn out, because the value of this book is in its use; Tiny Lego Wonders could be the launchpad you need to start your MOCing journey.
I recommend this book. For newcomers, you'll find easy to build models with great design and manageable part count. To experienced builders and those that already build on a small scale, you'll find excellent reference and inspiration.
This book is easy to recommend as it provides the opportunity to choose from a wide range of mini builds to tackle, with many common parts used and then just a few Bricklink orders to do. More than that though, the instructions are a great source of mini build techniques – for those who want to find new ways to make their builds smaller, this is a good place to start.
If you're into building minimalistic cities, Tiny LEGO Wonders: Build 40 Surprisingly Realistic Mini-Models! may be a good resource for you, There are many different builds and may provide inspiration for you to create your own miniature vehicles. The words are very minimal as there isn't that much of a need for them. The instructions may be a little confusing as they do incorporate a number of pieces for each step. The biggest offender of this are the ship builds. Other than that, I think it's a pretty solid book.
While some of the models were designed by the author himself, another 10 AFOLs have contributed models to the book, making this a truly international effort.
I really appreciate the variety of styles in the book, with builders from all around the world represented. There are so many interesting techniques inside and I suspect that this book will become a regular reference. I do wish there was a bit of commentary on the models, but the large diagrams in the instructions should be enough to sate most any reader.
