There are a few little things about this set that don't completely hit the mark, but it still has quite a lot going for it. If you're on the fence, I'd say go for it if you like excellent buildings, or Batman, or cool vans, or hopefully all of that.

Fun set, the detail in the architecture is stunning. But the mechanism for the sliding jail door didn't work. I've had this problem on another Batman set with sliding mechanisms. The door just sits on the frame with nothing to hold it in place. I checked the manual many times and I hadn't missed anything. I had to add an extra piece on to the top and bottom of the door to slide into the rails so it actually was a sliding door.

I love this set to bits – a spectacular start to 2013 as far as I'm concerned, and an early contender for set of the year. I absolutely flew through the build - I'm not one for building fast, tending to slowly creep along so I can savour every moment, but I was enjoying putting the set together so much that I didn't want to stop…. My only real complaint is the open-backed design.
