We participate in Adopt a Family every Christmas and the boy in our family said he really liked Minecraft. Clueless to what this was I turned to Amazon and found a plethora of Minecraft items! So he received this, books, other Minecraft toys and a t-shirt! I can only hope he was delighted when he opened them all on Christmas!
LEGO Builders can follow LEGO's instructions to build the dungeon, or they can build whatever they want with the pieces in this set--just like in the game Minecraft. Fans of the game can also use this set to recreate their own game structures, and the spawner feature adds some uniqueness to this set.
A nice set for Minecraft fans, but I think not much to offer to the non-fans.
This set has had some really mixed reviews, and all of them are valid. One example is how delicate this set is. Im gonna be honest, almost all of these minecraft sets are delicate. My only way to solve this is with piking up the set from the bottom and adding more bricks to the bottom to increase sturdiness. Pros: >Figurine selection is pretty good. >Cool play feature. Cons: >Fragile! (Read above to see how this doesn't need to be a problem) >Not the best to start. (More of a connection set than a separate set)
For anyone not into Minecraft, the set is little more than a collection of basic bricks and some odd minifigs. For the Minecraft fan, the set represents an iconic scene, but the lack of stability of the build and the inconsistencies in block height make it look a lot more LEGO than Minecraft.
