I purchased this set along with The Mushroom Island for myself, and I was very excited both opening the boxes and building the sets. The Snow Hideout has a nice atmosphere and comes with ice AND a snow golem. Overall, I'd recommend this set.

My 8 year old loves all the Minecraft Lego sets. He has been in his room building a large mine craft village for several days now. I am very happy with all our minecraft lego purchases because he gets hours of use out of them.

A pretty decent set with a lot of useful parts. We do get a new environment and the neat thing about these biomes is that they can be created a lot of different ways to give your world a new look. LEGO has also provided instructions for an alternate inspiration build which uses the same parts but in another way to create a different look. The minifigures are fairly reasonable. Of course Steve has to be included in the set because he is the main character of the game. The Creeper is a good addition since you can't have too many of them. The Snow Golem is very fitting for the snow environment.

The LEGO Minecraft Snow Hideout brings the digital snow biome from the video game to life, and lets fans recreate scenes from the game. Similar to the open-ended construction play in the Minecraft game, LEGO is all about creative building so the bricks in this set can be used to build any Minecraft-inspired structure.

I like the way how this set is being designed by bringing and integrating the concept of Minecraft and LEGO together. I could see a strong co-relations between both with building blocks as a common catalyst. Although I have never played the game before but after I built the set finish, I am quite tempted to get myself into this new gaming experience. As for the LEGO design for this snow hideout, I think it is an average looking set but with a full set up of the hideout which allow the player to survive better in the suffering cold.

If you're a Minecraft fan yet to buy a LEGO set this would make a good one to pick up given it contains the main characters, a dwelling and other key aspects of the game like the crafting box. If you're a fan and own all of last year's sets you will no doubt love it given it introduces a new biome, and it will make a great addition to your collection, although the reuse of last year's minifigures will be disappointing particularly given that the other sets just out contain new ones. If you're not a fan, you'll probably find more compelling sets to spend your money on given that it's not a particularly attractive set in terms of parts, playability or displayability.

If you're a fan of Minecraft, I think you'd probably enjoy this set. At $35 for 327 pieces, if you're not a fan of the game I'd probably pass, and the pieces that are there aren't anything special. I don't like the blocky look, but it's what makes Minecraft Minecraft, so if that's something you're a fan of, consider checking this set out.
