This is my first time buying LEGO and my husband and I had an amazing time building it together! We found something we can bond over. I also love this collection because it's very unique and the show holds a special place in my heart! The nice thing is, is they give you doubles of the really small pieces, because they are really small and can go missing very easily! When this product comes back in stock I will definitely be buying another one for a collectors item. I also will definitely be purchasing more products in the future! Thank you LEGO <3
Outside of the handful of printed parts and minifigures, this set is unimpressive. A ton of tiny pieces helps aid the small size of 11" x 8" x 4" once fully built. The retail price is $59.99, so the third party price is pretty ridiculous. Once Amazon retains its own stock of this set when Lego produces more of it, they will set it at $59.99 plus likely give their normal 20% discount on Lego sets.
It has been a long time since I last saw Friends on TV, but this set brought back many fond memories. The set is a very entertaining build, with lots of fun techniques and details. Each stage brings in a new character (or two) and there are plenty of accessories to make the set come alive.
Ultimately, I find myself pleasantly surprised to be recommending 21319 Central Perk unconditionally to pretty much anybody, whether you're buying it for nostalgic reasons or just for the parts and minifigs. That said, I kind of hope that The Big Bang Theory and Friends aren't setting a precedent for an endless stream of LEGO Ideas sets based on TV sitcoms.
This is a set that provides an intricate build with perfect little details. If it were a regular LEGO set it would be pretty amazing, but the fact it is based on such a popular television series makes it something really special. Fans of the show will be left shouting out ‘oh my God' at all of the little references while more casual fans will be enthralled by the techniques on display.
LEGO Ideas has produced some outstanding models and 21319 Central Perk is undoubtedly among my favourite such designs. This structure looks wonderful on display, replicating myriad subtle details from Friends and including some enjoyable references. Furthermore, I believe this model could easily form the basis for a generic coffee shop, potentially attracting those with little interest in the series.
Don't worry, this set is a great looking coffee shop. Simply buy the set and ditch the minifigures, sell them for half the cost of the set on the secondary market and keep the set for an awesome price! It's a great build plus those who only build MOCs will like the parts.
The finished model looks great, with enough references to please the most hardcore fan, but the build was just okay, a couple of interesting bits but for those critical of LEGO using more parts than is probably necessary (the thinking being LEGO do it to make the set seem better value for money) will probably be annoyed by some sections (the floor and rugs especially). I recommend this set to Friends fans but if you preferred Seinfeld then there's probably not very much in this set for you.
Overall, the 1,070 piece LEGO Ideas Central Perk (21319) is a decent set with a ton of little details from the Friends TV show. The minifigures are very accurate as well showing off just a sample of their numerous outfits throughout the series. Fans of the show may be more inclined to pick up this set even if they haven't collected LEGO before.
