"oh my god, it was the coolest lego set. Even though there were a whole lot of pieces, and a bit confusing to put together, the set once together, is beautiful. Fully posable beasts, the hinges that hold the case together are solid and keep it closed when you carry it around. I think every potter/legohead needs this set. Be warned, the beasts do not fit in the case." -from the 13yr od recipient.

This is a rather detail and solid set. While it is not as epic and grand as some of the Harry Potter sets such as the Great Hall, it is iconic and unique in its own way. It reminds me of my other set “Hobbit - An Unexpected Gathering Set"/the Hobbit Hole, a mid-sized set with all the key characters from the movie. I love all of the details of the briefcase. The three included creatures are all really beautiful to look at. Building-wise, while it wasn't super challenging, the set is complex and detailed enough to make the process enjoyable. My 3.5 years old son is the one who really play with the set. Even though he had never watch the movie, he has a great time role playing with all of the characters and beasts. He also enjoys opening+unfolding the case, and closing+folding the case. The mechanism is definitely solid for withstand a preschooler's repeating play. My main critique of the set is that the claws of the Thunderbird and the legs of Erumpent failed off way too easily. My son and I have to constantly fix them while we are playing with it. The case is also a bit smaller than I expected but at the same time that's what makes it super cute. Additional Feedback regarding the Fantastic Beasts Series: It will be nice to feature the many unique beasts depicted in the movie either in different sets (the circus scene? ) or as individually packed mini-sets.

Fantastic Beasts fans will really like bringing the movie to life through this construction set. The transforming suitcase provides a little bit of magic, as well as a fun two-in-one display and play feature.

All in all, this is a pretty good set. The brick-built animals are decent – I like the Occamy and the Thunderbird, the Erumpent not so much – but the suitcase is great in concept and execution. The minifigures are also nice – four main characters. Playability is not bad – it would have been better if the creatures could fit in the suitcase but in its present form it's not bad. The price also seems reasonable to me.

Although I've never been as excited about the Fantastic Beasts franchise as I've been about “core" Harry Potter over the past twenty years, J.K. Rowling herself is directly involved in expanding her universe, and I can appreciate the wonder and magic of the broader world. So, while acknowledging that I'm not a Fantastic Beasts super-fan, it's nice to have a new batch of minifigures and sets from both the 2016 movie and the upcoming 2018 film. And even without complex building techniques, the various elements of the set — not least three unique creatures — came together as an enjoyable build, resulting in a rather fun little playset. The set is also noteworthy for its price point — at only $50 for nearly 700 pieces (including four minifigures and several unusual printed creature pieces), it's a great value even if you're not a huge Fantastic Beasts fan. Overall, I highly recommend Newt's Case, and imagine hours of play ahead for any young wizard or muggle lucky enough to own the set.

Lego chose to make one Fantastic Beast set for each of the two films so far, and for the first film they chose this, Newt's Case; and I think this was the best possible idea they could have had. You not only get a good core selection of figures, but also a fun variety of creatures, accessories, and a clever way of having Newt's Case open up to reveal the world hidden inside it. At 694 pieces and $50, this set is also a good value for your money, and has it's share of fun building techniques to achieve the final designs. Personally, of the first wave of Wizarding World sets this is my favorite, and is highly recommended for anyone that is a fan of Fantastic Beasts.

Overall this set is an enchanting experience, to build and then enjoy. Not only is the opening case playset a clever concept, but it is well executed too. The three giant beasts are brilliant recreations, the two smaller beasts are worthwhile inclusions – the Niffler is possibly the cutest LEGO creature around right now – and with the four main characters as minifigures, it includes everything necessary for a full Fantastic Beasts experience. This set is truly fantastic by name and fantastic by nature.

This set has definitely exceeded my expectations! Combining two different scales in a single model is very effective and I think Newt's suitcase looks good in either configuration, although it probably offers greater display value when open. Furthermore, the minifigures are excellent and I love the animals too, despite a lack of detail in certain areas of the Erumpent and the Thunderbird.

Although LEGO didn't release a set based on Fantastic Beasts when the movie originally came out, Newt's Case of Magical Creatures (75952) definitely worth the wait. The suitcase has lots of little details that correspond to the movie however I expected it to be a bit bigger and could store the creatures but it's still a cue little thing that you can carry around. The three magical creatures also very nice looking even though they're small. There's also the Niffler which could be a pretty popular figure and the Bowtruckle which I wished had a bit more detail besides being a plain stalk.
