Its Legos, need I say more. My daughter has hours of fun with these and has probably 4000 pieces already.
Avengers fans will enjoy building and then battling. Both vehicles have working wheels for chases through the Sokovia winter forest. With Hawkeye in the drivers' seat, they can track down the Hydra offroader, fire the missiles, and launch Thor on his Super Jumper to take down the stud shooter.
Best Aou set ever. Hawkeye looks cool,Thor looks way better than the avengers assemble set. Hydra agents looks like a modern terminator. Avengers car looks cool but I wish there were doors and a proper roof on it. Hydra car looks good. Overall, excellent set.
The LEGO Marvel Super Heroes Avengers: Age of Ultron Avengers Hydra Showdown (76030) set is somewhat bland. For $20, you do get two different vehicles and three minifigures which are all not exclusive to this set but is the cheapest way to get all three. There are some play features but none that really stand out and quite honestly, aren't that interesting. It's all the same stud shooter/flick-fire thing that we're used to seeing by now.
76030 Avengers Hydra Showdown was reviewed in issue 7 of Blocks Magazine.
Part of the reason it took me so long to review this set is that it's probably the least necessary of the Age of Ultron sets to buy. Thor is available in the tower set (the only one that I haven't purchased), Hawkeye is available if you have the coin and get a Helicarrier (which is a great set, just expensive). The Hydra guys are mostly just there as evidence that LEGO didn't see pretty much anything in the movie before making this set.
I mentioned at the beginning of the review that this was the Age of Ultron I was least excited for, and to an extent I still feel that way. It pales in comparison with some of the larger sets in the range, but is nevertheless a strong set in its own right with lots of play value and two decent vehicles.
At the end of the day, I was really surprised by this set. I bought it because I wanted Thor and Hawkeye (who I've been wanting to refer to as Hawkguy for this entire review for various reasons), but wasn't expecting both vehicles to be so, well decent. Compared to Iron Man vs Ultron where the Ultron craft felt like a throwaway, this set's vehicles definitely earn their right to be in the set. Especially since it's a $20 set. I'm very happy with this set, and it's definitely worth your money.
