With all the right ingredients of a standout LEGO set – packed with value, high playability and displayability, fun to construct and features some of the most popular Marvel characters, you're not going to be disappointed one bit with The Hulk Buster Smash.
For getting Iron Man(and his Hulkbuster), along with a Hulk bigfig, Ultron, and Scarlet Witch, the $30 price is unbeatable. Of the Age of Ultron sets, this is clearly the winner.
This review is long overdue. This was the first set we purchased for my Son back in January of 2016. It was his first "official" introduction to Lego. We had a Duplo set and a Lego Junior race car set from 2015, but they did not do much for him as his interests are super heroes. This set, for its price is very hard to beat. Three minifigures (Iron Man Mark 43, Scarlet Witch and Ultron Prime) and a big Hulk figure. To top it off, you get to build the Hulkbuster. The playability is endless and it brings a smile to my face everytime I see my Son re-enact scenes from the movie, or when he creates his own action sequences. We have been fortunate enough to obtain almost all of the other Marvel Super Hero sets from 2012 to present and this one is still my Son's favourite. 100% recommended.
These two sets are must buy for hulkbuster fans like me. They are really nice to pose and play and photograph with! They do make me kind of ignored the existence of the minifigures in the sets. Haha.
When the first pictures came out, I was skeptical - the Hulkbuster looked like a bit of a mish-mash, and too big for its own good. But now that I've built it and held it, I have a great appreciation for what the designers managed to do. They packed a ton of detail and articulation into one of the smallest Lego mechs yet, and the end result is really slick. And when it comes with three great figures and an awesome new version of the Hulk too? Well, that's just icing on the cake.
Overall even with the few minor issues I have with with The Hulk Buster Smash (76031) set, it is still probably my second favorite set of the Age of Ultron wave. I do like the general look of the Hulk Buster suit including the new printed head piece for it. Another draw of the set are the minifigures that are included. Both Scarlet Witch and Ultron Prime will only appear in this particular wave of sets.
Hulkbuster looks nice, but it's a bit too big next to Hulk. The net thing seems tacked on.
I'm pretty sure I've never owned a LEGO superhero set before this one, and it's definitely a great one to buy if you're a fan of Marvel or just like cool LEGO sets. $30 for 248 pieces might seem high, but the sum of the parts is absolutely worth it. I'm glad I pick this up and if there's only one LEGO superheroes set you buy this year, you should make it this one!
Once you are done building the Hulk Buster, you will have an amazing articulating machine, that not only holds Iron Man inside, but it shoots blasters from its right arm. It can also grasp a mini figure in its hand, like the Ultron in this set, for example! Also, keep in mind, the blasters actually shoot very well. Make sure the kids aren't pointing them at each other, especially someones eye!
